SA 537 CL 2 steel is a pressure vessel grade steel that is the alloy of silicon, carbon, and manganese. This steel is used extensively in the designing of the heat exchangers, pressurized tanks and boilers. The heat treatment is providing using tempered and quenched techniques, the material has greater yielding strength and residual tensile strength when to pressure vessel grade it is compared that is produced under the standard ASME SA516. ASME SA537 CL2 is made in use mostly by the petrochemical industry, oil & gas industry.
The notch toughness of the plates can be improved through quenching cooling from the hot rolling or normalizing. If a faster rate of cooling is permitted then the steel can be tempered at the temperature ranging 1200 Deg F.
